Diamond Bar Girls Softball has a highly competitive and successful All Star Program. We are proud of our players and coaches who compete at the highest level and represent our league with outstanding sportsmanship.
THE ALL STAR EXPERIENCE
All Stars is much different than our recreational spring program. While our spring season focuses on instruction, development, and improvement, All Stars is about developing advanced skills and a winning attitude in a highly competitive environment. Some players thrive in this environment while others (and/or their parents) do not. It is important as parents to make this distinction for yourselves as well as for your daughter. DBGS is committed to forming the best teams possible that will have the greatest opportunity for success. We will attempt to keep teams small to allow for more playing time. There is no guarantee of playing time or playing a specific position.
TIME COMMITMENT
All Stars is a serious family commitment. The All Star program begins immediately after the spring recreational season ends. Teams will start practice the week of May 8th and play in multiple tournaments hosted by other local USA Softball leagues every weekend between mid/late May - mid June. The All Star culminates with USA Softballs Northern District finals from June 16th - 18th or June 23rd - 25th. Teams that qualify will move onto the State tournament in Lancaster June 30th - July 2nd or July 7th - 9th. Teams that qualify will then move onto the Regional tournament in San Diego July 14th - 16th.
Practices will be 3 - 5 days/week at the manager's discretion.
Tournament play involves varying schedules that could, and often do, take up the entire weekend. Most tournaments have a three game minimum with more games if the team advances.
Players and parents must commit to a full practice schedule and tournament season with the understanding that the All Star team will take priority over other sports/activities during this timeframe.
It is extremely important that families understand that your commitment for All Stars will begin in May and can extend until July 16th.
ALL STAR ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for All Stars, player must have played in at least 75% of their games during the Spring recreational season.
Additionally, any player who has participated with a travel team (in any capacity) after March 31st, 2022 IS NOT ELIGIBLE for All Stars per USA Softball rules. Participation includes: practice/training with; playing games with; or a tryout with any travel team: USA or non-USA.
PLAYING TIME
All Star teams are competitive teams and the "Fair Play" rule does not apply in ALL DIVISIONS. It is possible that your daughter may not play in a game or tournament. Parents are asked to set a positive atmosphere with strong support for the managers, coaches, players, and other parents and abide by the leagues Code of Conduct.
MONETARY COMMITMENT
If your child is chosen as an All Star, there is a separate cost of $250 which covers tournament entry fees and two uniforms. This does not include the cost of lodging for travel tournaments.
* There will be a payment plan offered to those families who have 2 or more players who participate in the All Star program.
VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT
All Star families are expected to volunteer at DBGS' Battle of the Diamonds Tournament June 9th - 11th.
